The inaugural "Funday Sunday" will be held at the Parkes Aquatic Centre from 10am.
Everyone is invited to go along and enjoy the green, shady, cool and fun space at the pool.
Parkes Aquatic Centre Coordinator Nikki Thornhill has joined forces with the team at Anglicare's Georgie's Pantry and the Parkes Shire's Drought Response Officer Roger Kitson to try and bring a bit of relief to those having to endure the ongoing dry conditions.
Nikki said the idea is really gaining momentum.
"I wanted to do something that would help out even further in the wake of the free entry to the pool last season," she said.
"And I also wanted to raise more awareness around the drought and our struggling rural families and businesses.
"We had a lot of people wanting to donate last year, but we didn't have the means to accommodate donations so now this is an opportunity to do that."
Council's large inflatable will be in the pool for everyone to enjoy from 2pm to 4pm.
Parkes Rotary Club has offered to help out and will be cooking a barbecue from 12pm to 3pm.
Massage therapists have donated their time and will be offering 10 minute massages for $10.
All money raised will go to Georgie's Pantry which supplies free groceries to farming families every Friday.
Anglicare Manager Natalie Quince said it's important to let our rural families know they are not alone.
"It's a great opportunity for the community to come together at this great facility and support the social framework of our rural communities," she said.
The team plans to hold Funday Sunday on the second Sunday of every month throughout the summer.
"The long term plan is to make it a bit of a market day where we can set up stalls selling local produce," Roger said.
"We'd also like to run it into the evening and screen a family movie.
"The important thing is to keep maintaining a sense of community."
