Netball
With our Tuesday night competition well underway and going well we would just like to remind all players that registrations and payments should now have all been completed. By not being registered or have paid fees you are penalising your own team each week, There will not be a grand final this year so the winner for each division will be based on the amount of points each team have at the end of round 10. We would also like to remind all teams that it is not ok to back chat the umpires and give them a hard time, some of our umpires are only learning and are volunteering, without umpires we will be unable to run the comp smoothly so please don't give them a hard time and respect there calls.

ROUND 5 IS FAST 5!!!
We are doing something a little different this week. With this week being half way through our Summer comp, we have decided to trial Fast 5 for round 5. As this is a trial for possibly a future comp of Fast 5, all teams will be given the same points whether they win or lose this round is just a fun trial week, However if your team do not wish to take part in trying Fast 5 please notify us asap, your team will still get the same amount of points.
As the games go for half the time there will be different time slots for this week, Can all teams please turn up 5 minutes before their game so that we are able to explain the rules again to all teams during there time slot at once.
For those who don't know what fast 5 is it is just like normal netball with some of the different for rules which include:
Time: Four quarters which are six minutes each.
Win the Coin Toss and your team: Chooses the end they'll play to in the first quarter. Starts with the ball in the first and third quarters. Has first choice of a quarter for its Power Play.
Lose the Coin Toss and your team: Starts with the ball in the second and fourth quarters. Chooses one of the three remaining quarters for its Power Play. Points are scored based on the area in which a player's feet are positioned when taking the shot.
Shots made from the INNER CIRCLE are worth ONE point Shots made from the OUTER CIRCLE are worth TWO points. Looking for maximum points? Score THREE points when the shot is made from OUTSIDE the GOAL CIRCLE!
Centre Passes: .All other centre passes are taken by the team that did not score the last goal.
Power Play: During a team's Power Play quarter all points scored are doubled.
Substitutions: Substitutions may be made at intervals or during play. There is no limit to the number that can be made.
Players: Play with five people instead of seven (drop the wings). Mix teams minimum of two boys on court at same time. Can take the court with four players min

Forbes made the most of its home course advantage when it dominated last week's 12-hole veterans golf competition against Parkes.
Lachlan Valley and Forbes veterans president, Peter Barnes showed the way in the 28-player field when he carded a sizzling 30 points to score a comfortable win from team mate Ross Williams (28).
Barnes also collected the nearest the pin (second shot) on the par four 12th hole, while John O'Shannesy from Parkes took the prize on the par three 18th hole. Lyn Roberts (Forbes) won the encouragement award.
The day also saw Forbes return to the winner's list in the Mick Miller Shield when they thumped Parkes 157 points to 126.

Racing
Racing from Colin Hodges. The battle-hardened veteran Free Billy took on and defeated an outstanding field of younger gallopers in the $75,000 Coonabarabran Bowling Club-Coonabarabran Cup contested over 1600 metres before a record breaking crowd on Sunday.
A nine year old gelding trained at Moree by Peter Sinclair, Free Billy has proven to be a tough and honest campaigner during a 74 starts career which has alternated between village Picnic meetings and TAB events on the bigger stage.
Runner up in the recent TAB Cups at Moree and Coonamble and in the Picnic Championship Final at Dubbo, Free Billy was well supported when backed from $9 to $7 at Coonabarabran where the $2.10 favourite was Leningrad from the high profile stables of Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott at Randwick.
Cowboys Karma and Attalea set the pace in the Cup from Austin and Leningrad with Haames and Free Billy racing at the tail of the field a long way behind the leaders.in a race run in close to track record time.
Finishing fast down the outside, Free Billy ridden by Nyngan based apprentice Clayton Gallagher won the Cup by a half neck from the Colt Prosser, Wauchope trained Haames ( Peter Graham, $6.50 ) with New Endeavour ( Ashley Morgan, $13 ) filling third place for Armidale trainer Stirling Osland.
Now with a record of 15 wins and 18 placings from the 74 starts, Free Billy with the Cup win took prize money earnings to over $200,000.Former New Zealand jockey Rory Hutchings who rode the Cup favourite Leningrad later won the $50,000 Max Hawkins Memorial-Country Magic Class 2 Plate ( 1200 metres ) on the very promising Burning Crown ( $1.60 favourite ) which shot clear in the straight and won by nearly four lengths from Sneak Preview ( Tony Cavallo, $8.50 ) and Malzoom ( Jake Pracey-Holmes, $51 ).
Sue Grills who trains Burning Crown at Tamworth also won the 1100 metres Farewell Don Mulrooney Cup Day Sprint with Under The Thumb, ridden a great race by Greg Ryan who kicked home a winning treble on the day.
From well back, Under The Thumb ( $3.90 favourite ) burst through the pack to account for the strong finishing Dennis Bush, Forbes trained Molasses ( Grant Buckley, $9 ) and Over And Above ( Kate Cowan, $7.50 ).
The other feature race was the $40,000 Baradine Cup ( 1400 metres ) and victory went to Ayham, prepared by Kelly Smith who is the only trainer at Collarenebri.
Winner of the previous two starts at Bundarra and Coonamble, Ayham ( Jody Worley, $9 ) squeezed through a gap close to home and claimed a three way photo finish win over Blue Channel ( Clayton Gallagher, $14 ) and the Wayne Martyn, Coonabarabran trained Sea Lady ( Brooke Stower, $8 ).
Rodney Robb from Nyngan who trains the runner-up Blue Channel had earlier won the Imperial Hotel and OSM Constructions Class 1 Handicap ( 1400 metres ) with Retribution ( $8 ) which stormed down the outside with Clayton Gallagher in the saddle.
The other winners at the highly successful meeting were Derby Star ( Greg Ryan, $1.75 fav.) trained at Tamworth by Cody Morgan, the Colin Dixon, Tamworth trained Miss Kokkinakis ( Kate Cowan, $20 ) and Cos I'm Good ( Greg Ryan, $1.80 fav.) from the Armidale stables of Stirling Osland.
