Tonight the tennis centre will be a hive of various activities from 6pm with their Stay'n'Play Family Social evening.
The McGrath Foundation raises money to place specialist McGrath Breast Care Nurses wherever they're needed around Australia. It is estimated that 53 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer in Australia everyday this year.
Our very own Di Green does an amazing job servicing our area but she needs more support.
Parkes Tennis is proud to be involved in the Parkes Shire's campaign and hope the community will come and enjoy an evening of socialising and tennis activities.
It's a 6pm start, with the Speed Serve to see how close you can get to the fastest server in the world, Sam Groth who clocked 263km/hr.
There will be a parent and child red ball competition which is a chance for all the HotShots kids of any level to get their mum, dad or grandparent out on the mini courts for a fun game.
Organised social tennis will feature on courts 1-4 during the evening, with courts 7-10 free play which means anyone can get some friends and go and have a hit.
There will also be hit the target games, corn hole, tennis quizzes, name the players, guessing competitions, table tennis, as well as lucky draws and meat tray raffles.
7pm will be the feature event with Parkes nationally ranked players Jake Magill and Ben Evans playing an exhibition set.
A lot of people have heard about these young men, have read about them but never seen them play so this will be a good opportunity for the community to come and see them in action.
They will be serviced by the Ballkid Squad who have been training to be ballkids at the ATP Cup in Sydney in January 2020.
8pm will be the DASH 4 CASH- where teams of two will receive $$$$ and they play 1 single point against another team. The losers have to give the winners 1 x $. The winners take on new challengers until they lose.
When a team has no $$ left they are out of the game. The winners are the team with the most $$$ at the end of the 20 minutes.
Lots of fun for everyone and plenty of strategy involved in this one. There will be 2 divisions - 15yrs and over and 14yrs and under.
We would like to acknowledge and thank the Parkes businesses who have very generously supported our event: Wholesome Blend, Harvey Norman, Johnsons Bakery, Rockmans, Sleek Hair Design, Little Black Dress, Quick Shine Car Wash, French Taste Bakery, Radio 1404-2PK, Parkes Champion Post and Helen Magill's Tennis.
Special thanks to Luke and Lani Wirth of Butta Beef Butchery and David Potts of Potts Removals for their much appreciated ongoing support.
Parkes Tennis is very lucky to have these two amazing local businesses understand the benefit the sport of tennis can bring to families.
Cost for the evening is $10 per person or $20 for a family which includes the barbecue (byo drinks) and all activities, with monies raised going to the McGrath Foundation.
