Parkes SSAA Smallbore

Last weekend wee saw nine shooters attend the Deep Lead shooting complex. They shot at ordinary targets at both 25 and 50 meters for a maximum of 500 points. This match was shot under near perfect weather conditions with very little wind.

Target Rifles: Brian Drabsch 250, 250, 500, John Davis 250, 246, 496, Steve Mitchell 249, 242, 491, Jeff Charlton 249, 236, 485.

Field Rifles: Ron Cunningham 249, 243, 492, John Smeaton 249, 240, 489, Brett bowling 245, 233, 481, Terry Townsend 245, 229, 474.

One shot for practice one. Sorry Major, you haven't earned top billing today. John Smeaton who has been having right eye trouble shot left hand and didn't do too bad really. Our next shoot is at 10am Sunday, October 20 and will be an animal target at both rants.

Parkes SSAA Sporting Clays

Last months shoot was cancelled due tot he heavy dust storm and light rain making a mess of everything. Our next shoot is at 1pm Saturday, November 19.

Bridge

Tuesday, October 8: Winners were Greig Ball and Suzy McNamara with a great score of 64 per cent. Second were Liz Mathews and Warren Blatch with 51 per cent.

Thursday, October 10 (there were seven tables)

In North South: Winners were Louise Payne and Peter Quin 59.29 per cent. Second Bev Laing and Isobel Orange at 55 per cent.

In East West: Winners Beth Thomas and Suzy McNamara with 58.33 per cent. Second Anne Berkley and Jenny Freeman with 53.33 per cent.

Monday, October 14: Winners were Bev Laing and Anne Berkley with 59.2 per cent. Second were Beryl Twardy and Jennifer Calvert with 58.93 per cent.

Tuesday, October 15: Winners ere Marlene Freeman and Peter Deardon with per cent. Second were Greig Ball and Suzy McNamara with 56.25 per cent.

Railway Bowls

Hello Bowlers, Saturday, October 12 there were 14 bowlers. With two games of pairs and one of the triples. Winners were Col Boehm and Chris Dunn W 11+11. Runners up Kevin Hynds and Neil Stronach W11+7.

Also on the day, a semi-final of the fours was played. Luke Ramsay, Dougie Miller, Luke Cross and Matt Mcgrath (sub )played Wally Grant Terry Hetherington, Gene Rapp and Allan Curteis.

Well, would you believe they had to have a break due to rain? That didn't help Wally's team as Luke ran out to win 22-14. That puts Luke's team in the final to play Col Boehm's team good luck to all.

On Sunday in the Final of the Women's pairs Lea Tanks and Trish Allen versus Tracey Dixon and Pauline Currey. Well, Lea and Trish went on to be this year's champions 24-15.

The AGM was held on Sunday, and the club is in a good financial position. The old board was re-elected with Tony Latter as president again.

Welcome to the new committee members Graeme Turner, Greg Phillips, George Pratt, and Mick Mudiman. Wednesday bowls had 14 players. Winners Rob Clegg and Graeme Turner W16+3.

Runners up Trish Allen and Tony Latter W15+6.Margins were 5, 6, and 13. Thursday night Power pairs starts October 17 at 6pm see you there.

Champagne Triples are nearly full up with only one team spot left to be filled for the October 26-27. See you at the railway.

Ladies Bowls

A great day for bowls saw 24 players enjoying a game of bowls this week.

Jan McPhee, Hilda McPherson, Joan Simpson def Heather Harvey, Chris Curteis, Rosemary Mitchell. Frances Charlton, Margaret Hawken, Maureen Miller drew with Laurie Keane, Kim Evans, Maureen Baillee. Rose Howlett, Di Howell, Flo Riseborough def Carol Reed, Christine Cox, Robyn Morgan. Kate Keogh, Merilyn Rodgers, Cherie Frame def Lea Orr, Valmai Westcott, Marja Iffland.

The Trading Table provided lots of lovely prizes and everyone was very happy. Raffle was won by Kate Keogh. Winners for the day Kate, Merilyn, Cherie and runners/up Lea, Valmai and Marja.

The Minor Singles Championship commences next week with some great matches to be played.

The Minor Pairs Championship nominations are open on October 22 and close November 5 so get your entry in now.

The President's Gala day will be held on October 29 with "Pink" the order of the day. October is Breast Cancer awareness month and everyone is urged to do checks. Cost is $20 and lots of raffles to try your luck available.
