The Pink Up Parkes campaign - as part of the Pink Up Your Town initiative - began October 1 and lasted the entire month, with the whole town hopping on board to support the McGrath Foundation cause - from community groups and businesses to sporting clubs and individuals.
A number of 'pink' events took place across town and ranged from charity dinners, walks and morning teas to bowls and golf days, and businesses simply decorating their shops and offices.
It was all to raise money to help fund more McGrath Foundation Breast Care Nurses, like Parkes' own Dianne Green.
The Pink Up Parkes committee had an initial fundraising target of $20,000 for the month, which chairperson Carolyn Rice said they've achieved already. We'll be checking in with them later to find out the final tally.
In this photo gallery you'll find photos captured at:
- The Mini Field of Women event at Lions Park on October 6.
- The Rosedurnate Aged Care Plus morning tea and lunch where residents enjoyed pink cupcakes, live music and a barbecue lunch on October 9.
- The Parkes College for Seniors morning tea at the Parkes Masonic Lodge on October 9, that included a market stall and guessing competition.
- The pink Pitch 'n' Put ladies golf day at the Parkes Golf Club on October 11.
- The Pink Up Parkes Landcare Walk and Wellness Morning, which attracted more than 65 people. A handful of people took part in yogalates before joining the crowd to hit the pavement from Cooke Park to PAC Park on October 12.
The morning finished at the western end of PAC Park with a breakfast and a physio session.
The event was sponsored by Edge Consulting and INLink.
Pink Up Parkes secretary Marg Applebee said they were very happy with the walk's turnout and those involved were of all different ages.
"We couldn't have asked for a better day," Marg said.
