With spring well and truly underway, six Parkes gardeners will open their amazing gardens to the public on Sunday, October 13 from 10am to 4pm. In addition be able to view these lovely gardens, there will be stalls with plants and other garden related products as well as art, olive oil products, skin care products and more.
Tickets and wristbands to visit all six gardens are just $15 and can be purchased from Greenparkes Garden and Nursery Centre which is also offering a 10 per cent off all their nursery products when you purchase your wristband. If you are unable to purchase a wristband beforehand, Parkes Visitors Information Centre and the first open garden, will also have them available for purchase. A map is provided when purchasing wristbands and entry is free for children 16 years and younger, while a single garden entry is $5.
An ongoing feature of Quota's Open Gardens is the delicious Devonshire Tea, which will be held at Garden 1 for $5, and a scrumptious lunch at Garden 3 for $15. The gardens are brimming with ideas on what to plant for the local climate, waterwise features, and texture and colour, along with special artistic garden features that enhance the overall looks of the gardens. The owners are happy to share their ideas and experience, so come along and see what could work in your garden.
The event coincides with National Gardening Week which runs from October 13 - 19 all over Australia, and Parkes this week also celebrates, "Pink Up Parkes" with one of the open gardens embracing that theme. A lovely day has been planned, including:
- Gardens will be open all day, 10am to 4pm. $15 for all gardens with single garden entry just $5.
- Stalls selling plants, garden art, pottery, olive oil products, skin and beauty products, creative digital designs, original gift cards and more.
- Devonshire teas cooked by Quota from 10am to 11.30am at the first garden, for just $5.
- A delightful lunch in a rural setting (but close to town for easy access) from 12pm to 2pm for $15.
