Jenny Short has been appointed as the new Grants Officer and brings a wealth of skills and community knowledge to the grants team having previously worked in tourism for two years at the Parkes Visitor Information Centre, and the RMS for 20 years prior to that.
Previously located in the Parkes Library, the Grants Team is now based in Council's Administration Building on Cecile Street, while the Parkes Library Expansion project is undertaken.
Jointly funded by Northparkes Mines and Parkes Shire Council, the Grants Team has been extremely successful over the past 12 months, helping to secure more than $20 million in grant funding for Parkes Shire projects, events and initiatives.
With Northparkes Mines celebrating their 25 years of operation in Parkes, they are encouraging more groups to apply for their two grant programs: the Community Investment Program (closing October 30) and the Sporting Grants Program (closing September 30).
Council's Grants Officer, Sally Chapman said, "to assist community and sporting groups to take advantage of these funding opportunities, Council and Northparkes Mines will be hosting a series of practical sessions to explain the application process, and how to write a successful submission."
Two sessions will be held on Thursday, September 19, a lunchtime session at 12pm until 2pm and an evening session from 6pm until 7pm.
The 'drop in' lunchtime session will see the Grants Officers work one-on-one with individual groups on their submissions.
The evening session will be an overview of the two grant programs.
Please register your attendance for the sessions via grants@parkes.nsw.gov.au or phone 6861 2395 to secure your spot.
Both Jenny and Sally are also available to meet individuals and groups from Monday to Friday from 9am until 3pm to provide assistance and advice about funding opportunities.
Please book to ensure they are available, either by email grants@parkes.nsw.gov.au or calling 6861 2395.
