Railway Bowls
A great weekend of bowls on Saturday with 32 bowlers taking the green to compete in the annual West versus East of the Newel Highway, the format was Mufti and was won by the westies with everyone enjoying a great day.
On a more serious note the final of the Major Pairs was played last week under excellent conditions.
What a great game it was with Doug Miller and Luke Ramsay defeating Mick Furney and Steve Frame 20-19 after the scores were locked on 19 all on the 21st end with Luke and Dougie picking up the shot to take out the title 20-19 congratulations to both teams on an entertaining match.
Wednesday bowls was again successful with 24 bowlers taking part under sunny conditions winners on the day were Wally Grant and John Dean Runners up Bill Searl and Gene Rapp.
This weekend the Minor Triples Championships will be held over two days.
The draw has been done with the draw on the draw on the board there will also be social bowls with names in by 12:30pm for a 1pm start.
Raffles this Friday along with Great home cooked meals in the meantime keep on dancing.

On Thursday, August 29 we played in the Australia- wide Pairs event.
The hands are pre-set so that clubs all over Australia are playing exactly the same cards.
We had an eight table line up and the north south winners were Beth Thomas and Suzie McNamara with a score of 56.47 per cent.
Second were Louise Payne and Peter Quin 55.13 followed by Bev Laing and Isabel Orange 53.57.
On the east west side Val Worthington and Joan Reilly topped with 59.15.
Second were Gary Somers and Kevin Robinson 56.92 and third were Keith Fiedler and Helen Hall 53.79 only just ahead of Vicki Burke and Dawn Phipps 53.57.
The set hands were very hard to bid on and results were fairly even all round.Monday night's winners were Beryl Twardy and Keith Fiedler 54.76.
Second were Gary Somers and Greig Ball 54.17.
Bev Laing and Anne Berkeley were third with 52.98 only just pipping Tim and Gai Baker 52.38.Kevin Robinson and Isabel Orange were the winners of Tuesday's game with a score of 64.58.
Keith Fiedler and Val Worthington were second with 57.64 followed by Beth Symington and Joan Reilly 54.17.
In fourth place were Bev Laing and Marlene Freeman 50 per cent.

Huge results on Father's day, September 1 the Parkes Services Social Golfers played their Monthly Award for Trophies supplied by The Parkes Services Club with a Raffle donated by Bill Warren.

Looked very much like all the Fathers had a dash of leave their Logs at Home and played to their Ability for a change.

Happy Fathers Day Richard from Captain Chop with an eight shot reduction in your Handicap.
Men's Runner ups were Bill Warren with 65 Nett on a count-back from Rodney Luyt and Ross Smith with a 66Nett.

Last weekend we saw nine shooters attend the deep lead shooting complex. They shot at ordinary targets at 25 and blowfly targets at 50 meters with a maximum of 500 points.

There were a lot of blow flies shot at the 50 meter range but they were still and not flying! Our next shoot is at 1pm Sunday, September 8 and will be an animal target at both ranges.
On Saturday, September 7 at 9am we will be holding a working bee out at the range with Parkes Pistol Club to do repairs and anything that needs to be done to keep the range ready for our next inspection by the firearms registry.
Bring along gloves and there will be light work for those that can't lift anymore.
A rake would be handy and we will have many tools ourselves.
