The Department described the week as a "celebration of student empowerment and how the NSW public education system gives students the skills they need in order to have and express a voice during their own educational journey and as engaged global citizens".
Across Parkes, parents and grandparents were invited to come along throughout the week to visit the children in their classrooms and see what they have been up to.

Many schools had their own events including Parkes East Public where students dressed up as there favourite superhero, or a character who possessed a super power. Visitors were also asked to join their children for a picnic lunch after the open classrooms.
