Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development, Leader of The Nationals, and Federal Member for Riverina Michael McCormack said community consultation had been under way since July 1.

"The bypass will deliver huge benefits for the community, including travel time savings, improved amenity and increased safety and access," Mr McCormack said.

"It will involve building a 10.5 kilometre bypass of the Newell Highway on the western outskirts of Parkes, removing up to 1200 trucks a day from local streets.

"Only the Nationals in Government, working together, will get this vital project done."

NSW Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Paul Toole said Transport for NSW had met with more than 600 people during the submission period.

"This feedback from the community, road users, and other interested parties is an important step in developing the final design of the Parkes bypass," Mr Toole said.

"This is a project that promises to reduce travel time up to 10 minutes, benefitting motorists and truckies and boosting freight efficiency.

"Feedback on the project can be provided until Friday, August 9 and all submissions will be addressed in a submissions report which will be used to guide the final project design."
