The 'Be Road Ready For Harvest' Field Day will kick off with a free breakfast at 7:30am and includes sessions around the new National Class 1 Agricultural Vehicle and Combination Notice, up-to-date information on pilot and escort laws and guidance on online permit applications.
"It's important for farmers, contractors and councillors to be informed in the lead up to harvest," NSW Farmers President James Jackson said.
"NSW Farmers has worked closely with the RMS to ensure the needs of farmers are understood.
"For example, we were able to get a new national class 1 agricultural vehicle and combination notice in place, removing the need to apply for council permits when moving agricultural machinery and combinations on public roads across much of regional Australia."
Attendees will also take part in an interactive machinery inspection to clarify what the requirements are for various vehicles and combination dimensions, safety equipment and pilot/escort vehicles.
Parkes, Forbes and Lachlan Shire Councils' Road Safety and Injury Prevention Officer, Belinda Coe said the interactive machinery inspection session conducted by RMS and NSW Police will provide up to date advice on laws and requirements.
"Safety during harvest is very important, meaning operators need to be aware of their responsibilities and ensure that during harvest all warning devices and travel requirements are adhered to," Ms Coe said.
"Attendees will all receive a copy of the 2019 'Moving Harvest Machinery' Information Kit, which contains all of the relevant notices and information about moving agricultural machinery on the road.
"If the machinery or combination doesn't comply with the dimensions set out in the general notices, a specific permit may have to be applied for."
The events are supported by the Australian Custom Harvesters Association, NSW Farmers, WFI Insurance, Roads and Maritime Services, NSW Police, the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator and the Parkes, Forbes and Lachlan Shire Councils.
