A FAMILY has had a very close call following an overnight fire that ignited in the chimney flue at their home.

Fire and Rescue NSW crews from Parkes were called to a home on Currajong Street in Parkes at 6.05pm on Monday following triple-0 reports of a house fire.

"On arrival crews found a flue to be alight," firefighters said in a statement.
"Crews quickly got to work both in and on the roof, they removed the flue and found it to be blocked.

"The blockage was cleared and the flue was cooled."
Parkes firefighters said the quick response from the crew "not only saved the house but ensured very minimal damage".
Meanwhile, in a separate incident on Monday night the BP station of Forbes Road was evacuated following reports of the smell of smoke.
