Ellis is taking this opportunity to remind families in Parkes that they can use their Active Kids Voucher to play junior cricket in Parkes this summer.
The Active Kids Program is a NSW Government initiative to promote children being physically active.
Parents, guardians and carers of school-enrolled children are eligible to claim two $100 vouchers in 2019 with the second voucher becoming available from July 1.
Parkes and District Junior Cricket Association is on board as a registered provider for this program which means parents can redeem an Active Kids Voucher and use it register for cricket in the 2019/20 season.
With all junior cricket registrations being taken online this year via the website playcricket.com.au, parents will simply be able to enter their Active Kids Voucher code at the point of payment.
The Active Kids Program represents an unprecedented opportunity for new players to participate, and to provide parents of returning players to receive a contribution towards the cost of registering their child, up to a value of $100.
"There is no shortage of interest in cricket at the moment with our Australian Men's team having competed in the World Cup and our Women's team embarking on an Ashes campaign in England that will be followed by the Men's Ashes," Ellis said.
"Every one of the players representing Australia now played junior cricket.
"It is where the cricket journey begins for many young Australians.
"With the introduction of the second Active Kids Voucher this July, it is a great opportunity for the next generation of cricketers in Parkes to have their first taste of playing Australia's favourite sport."
Ellis said the online registration process provides prompts and guidance for parents on how to redeem their Active Kids Voucher.
"It is as simple as heading to playcricket.com.au and searching for 'Parkes' in the club finder and following the steps outlined to register," he said.
Once parents select Parkes NSW, scroll further down the page to find the name Parkes District Junior Cricket Club. It is here parents can register their primary-aged or high school-aged child for the season.
The Parkes District Junior Cricket season will begin on the first weekend of Term 4, Saturday, October 19.
A cricket gala night has been planned for September 20 at Northparkes Oval (more details to come later) and those who need help with their online registrations, will have the opportunity at the event.
A laptop will be available and club members will be around to assist with the registration.
