DUBBO JDS
Dubbo JDS saw an enthusiastic group head north for the day to compete in their various age divisions.
Faith Clarke has been working really hard on improving her technique and due to her commitment positive results are coming her way. Faith finished runner-up in the Dubbo 12 and unders and only lost the one match in a tiebreaker. Well Done Faith! Tia Dunn also played in the 12s and is enjoying the experience of more competitive matches.
Gabe Goodrick was the other consistent performer coming through to take the runner-up prize in the 14/u boys division.
Mitchell Arndell and Will Rix made it through to the playoffs in the 12s event coming from unseeded pools whilst Ethan Hunt was in the seeded pool but finished out of the playoffs after a 3 way countback. Sam Riley also played in the 12s and has been a huge improver on court this term.
Poppy Fisher finished 3rd in the 10s girls while Koby Wirth was pleased with his effort to finish runner-up in the 16 Boys section which was combined with the 18s.
The Western CHS Trials were also held last week with a good contingent of seven boys travelling to the Indoor Centre in Orange to attempt to make the team.
Jake Magill and Ben Evans were standouts and this will be Jake's 5th and Ben's 6th straight year of making the Open Boys Western Team. Joseph Tanswell also came through to make the team while Gabe Goodrick missed out after losing his final crucial Pool match 11/9 in the tiebreaker to finish 2nd in his pool. He came through in 3rd place but lost the knockout match then lost again to last years number 4 player for the final spot in the team. Harry Dawson, Lachy Tassell and Ethan Hunt all competed hard but couldn't get past the pool matches this year. Jake, Ben and Joseph will head to Wollongong in September for the NSW Carnival.
