The Parkes Action Club held their annual primary school public speaking competition on Wednesday, May 8, at the Parkes Masonic Centre.

It is contested in two sections - Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4) who speak for three minutes and Stage 3 (Years 5 and 6) who speak for four minutes.
Each of Parkes' five primary schools - Parkes East Public School, Holy Family School, Parkes Public School, Middleton Public School and Parkes Christian School - has a student in each category.
The winner and runners-up of each stage receive a trophy.
The winner's name is also engraved on a perpetual trophy which is displayed a their school for the following 12 months.
Along with the trophies the Parkes Action Club donates, it also presents each school $100 for the winner and $50 for the runner-up.

Stage 2:
The winner was Indianna Kennedy (Middleton Primary School), runner-up went to Alexis Herden (Parkes Christian School).
Stage 3
The winner was Lara Smith (Holy Family School), runner-up was Angelique Bland (Parkes Christian School).
The Parkes Action Club meets on the first Thursday of every month at the Parkes Hotel.
The men-only club has a membership of around 20 at the moment but are always looking for more.
Member Tim Keith said the club would love to get some younger helpers on board.
