It wasn't the best day for tennis with drizzling rain for most of the morning. As the courts became heavy and the balls were fluffing up, it was a case of strong tactical play which would prevail.
Jake Magill and Ben Evans led the side beautifully with an opening 6/0 set against the number one Dubbo Senior College pairing.
Meanwhile Lachlan Tassell and Joseph Tanswell rallied well to score a win in their first doubles set.
The singles went 4/0 in the way of Parkes High and they played the crossover doubles set once the result was secured to give Gabe Goodrick some match play.
Gabe has been playing some consistent tennis and it was decided to play Gabe in the final against the highly fancied Bathurst High side.
Once again Jake and Ben showed their experience at this level and went on court determined to get Parkes off to a good start. They were clinical in their approach and played with purpose.
They defeated the top Bathurst high side 6/0. Joe and Gabe combined well and were disciplined to score a vital doubles win. Parkes lead two sets to zero.
Ben Evans at number two is a bonus for the Parkes side as no other team has anyone who can match Ben's skills and he only took 15 minutes to trounce his opponent 6/0.
Joseph and Gabe both lost their singles sets 6/2 and Jake was battling hard with Bathurst number one Jeorge Collins who is currently ranked almost 200 places ahead of Jake on the national rankings.
Jake is on the way back after a terrible run of injuries and played a smart match to make it difficult for Jorge to attack. Jake won 6/4 and this secured four sets for Parkes.
They were well up on games and with Jake and Ben to take on the second pairing the boys were confident. They won 6/0 and took the win five sets to three.
Meanwhile the girls were on adjacent courts playing Dubbo High. The girls team of Phoebe and Hannah Potts, Maddy McCormick and Holly McColl were untroubled and scored a resounding eight set win.
Some resistance came from Kaitlin Hall who had been training in Parkes with the girls and Amelia Day who was a former regional champion but the depth of the Parkes team proved too much.
The final against Blayney High was similar with a dominant display from all four players. Blayney has the Spiers sisters in Caitlyn and Hayley but they were no match for the Parkes girls and with another eight sets to zero victory they were happy to be taking another week off school in August to play in the State Finals of the Floris Conway Cup.
Junior Competition
Round 7 of junior comp this week. The list is on the canteen bench for the barbeque and presentation which is a couple of weeks away yet but important for the canteen ladies to organise the catering.
It's on July 2 after the final round of matches from 6.30pm-7pm.
Senior Competition
Round 8 of senior comp tonight and with three weeks to go Dreamteam, Racqueteers and Wasted Potential Aces are battling out the lead.
Racqueteers take on Wasted Potential this evening which should be a good battle.
