Bob has been involved at the Club for more than 40 years. He has always humoured those in his presence with his vibrant personality and corny dad jokes. It was always thought this was Bob's way of putting you off your game when you were at the opposite end of the court, along with his quick wit and his ambidextrous hitting which continued to confuse many over the years.

It was the sheer joy and pleasure on his face each time he stepped onto the court though that made it evident tennis was and still is one of Bob's great passions in life.

Bob has organised and run our social tennis days and nights for many years and it is volunteers like Bob who are crucial to the ongoing sustainability of sporting organisations across the country. Parkes Tennis appreciates all the years of service Bob has selflessly given and continues to give people who come into the social tennis environment.

Thanks to the Committee who organised a delicious afternoon tea for all who attended. Bob's children Debbie Gould and John Green along with his very supportive partner Irene Trueber are thankful Bob continues to enjoy his tennis with all of his friends and are proud of this recognition.

Today is Round 6 of junior comp and round 7 of senior comp.

This Thursday Parkes will host the CHS Semi finals and Finals. Parkes have strong teams in both Open Girls and Open Boys divisions.

The Open girls will be lead by Hannah Potts, Phoebe Potts, Maddison McCormick and Holly McColl. They will take on Dubbo Senior College in the semi final and should progress to the final where they will play the winner of the match between Orange High and Blayney High.

Parkes High Open boys team was fiercely fought to gain a place in the team with Harry Dawson unlucky to miss out. The 5 player team of which 4 players will play the first match against Dubbo Senior College should win and then they will take on the winner of the match between Orange High and Bathurst High in the Final. It is widely tipped it will be a Parkes v Bathurst final with Bathurst headed by talented 13-year-old Jeorge Collins.

Jeorge, who stands beyond 6 foot tall has just been named in the NSW 13 and under team to compete at the Rod Laver Cup in Queensland in July. Bathurst also have three capable team members that have represented Western so the Parkes team manager Mr Pigram will have to choose their combinations wisely and play every match with solid intent to get over the line.

Jake Magill, Ben Evans and Lachy Tassell are competing in their last CHS event while youngsters Joseph Tanswell and Gabe Goodrick will need to be at their fiercesome best to match it with the consistency of the Bathurst boys.

Winners from Thursday will be crowned Western Champions and head to the State Finals at Nelsons Bay in August.

Entries close for the Dubbo JDS tomorrow night. It is on this Sunday June 16. There is a training run from 3.30pm on Saturday afternoon under the guidance of Far West Coach Ken Wray. If anyone is interested in attending the training please let Helen know.
