Major Singles
On Sunday, May 19 Brett "Baldy" Frame and Rob Irving fought out the Final of the Major Singles Championship. Rob started well and won the first two ends to lead 3-0 and continued to match Brett, shot for shot.
After thirteen ends the scores were level 12 all and Rob won the next four ends to lead 19-12 before Brett found form (after some encouragement from his wife Cherie - in the form of a large beer).
On the next two ends Brett scored seven shots to tie the scores again and eventually ran out the winner 31-24 after 28 ends. Congratulations to both Rob and Brett for putting on a show worthy of any final and in particular Brett Frame, the Club Major Singles Champion for 2019.
Major Pairs
On Saturday, May 18 the team of Paul and Mike Went came up against Brett "Baldy' Frame and Guy Ellery in the second Semi-Final of the Major Pairs Championship.
Paul and Mike had the better of the early ends but by the fifteenth end Brett and Guy had taken the lead for the first time in the match, 19-18.
The next five ends were all won by a single shot and with one end to play the scores were level 21 all.
During a tense final end both teams looked like winning when they held shot but eventually Paul and Mike claimed victory 22-21.
Congratulations to both teams, it was a great match , and in particular Paul and Mike Went who will meet Tom Casey and Martin Tighe in the Final.

On the next end Rob and Maureen scored seven shots and won three of the last five ends to run out winners 24-21.

The Rookie
Zone 4
The past fortnight has been a busy time for Bowlers right throughout the Zone 4 Bowling Association, with fours and triples championships for the majority of playing personnel and the State Senior Sides Championships for our selected squad:
Our Zone 4 Senior Representative Side recently competed in the State Championships and whilst Not
Progressing past the sectional play of this event were very competitive, just missing that Quarter-
Final Spot by a couple of Shots: Honourable mention to Alan Messiter, Phil Gray, Bob Hamilton; Robert French who were undefeated over the two days, and to the 2019 Rookies Mark Dwyer, Bernie Diduszko; John Adams good effort.
Last weekend we Completed Play in the Triples Championships, which will now see all Section winners in both the fours and triples advance to the Finals series at West Dubbo over the weekend of May 25-26.
The FOURS will be played on Saturday, whilst the section winners of the triples will line up on Sunday. Due to recent changes by the Bowls NSW Match committee these events now have Senior Divisions for Players over 60 years of Age and also the Presidents Division for Players who are Graded 5 or below.
So instead of just one open fours and triples championships we will have three Zone Champions in each event, all of whom will advance to the state finals at Ettalong later in the Year
Veteran's Golf
Forty-two brave veteran golfers took on the Grenfell Country Club Golf course last Thursday in the Lachlan Valley 18 Holes Competition.
With slopes down the centre and either creeks to the left of you or rocks to the right of you, this very interesting course won the day, as no one came in under par.
The outright winner was Barry Green (Grenfell) on a count-back from Ian Phipps (Parkes), both on par, 36 points in A grade. Tony Glasson outpointed Tom Delmenico in B grade, 33 points to 31.
Nearest the pin winners were John Pearce on the ninth and Ian Phipps on the eighteenth. The Coles/Miller points went to the local team, Grenfell, with 104 points, followed by Parkes on 100, and West Wyalong and Forbes tied on 98.
We all then enjoyed the hospitality of the good ladies from the bar and kitchen. We come back to Parkes this Thursday. All Parkes veteran are notified that our AGM will place following the game at Parkes on June 6.
