Did you make the Parkes news then?
It was the year when many young ladies made their debut, a 5/6 bedroom home - featuring seven paddocks - was selling for $150,000 and Rain Man was showing at the Golden West Cinema.
It was the year the Parkes business community called for the return of angle parking in the CBD and not parallel parking, and there were even talks back then for Parkes to become an inland rail port.
These photos were published in the Parkes Champion Post between May 10-17, 1989.
