It was the 81-year-old's third visit to Parkes and he just so happens to come from Coventry, England.
Parkes' sister-city relationship with Coventry was one of the main reasons the globe-trotter stops in Parkes during his travels around Australia.
He was last in Parkes in February 2017, with earlier visits in 2009 and about 2004.
Ron has been travelling the world since he was in his mid-40s.
He's been to Australia 25 times and said this trip Down Under, taking place between December and April, was sadly his last.
So it was even more fitting for Ron to have his photo taken with the new Coventry flag, that was the result of a competition created by BBC Coventry and Warwickshire Radio Station, while he was in Parkes.
Ron said he had some fond memories of Parkes, especially the time Parkes' mayor, the late Robert Wilson OAM, took him out to dinner in 2004.
He said he was treated "like a Lord" during that visit.
Ron arrived in Australia in the last week of December and, being the tennis fan that he is, headed to Melbourne for the Australian Open on January 14.
He then attended the Adelaide Wine Festival, before visiting Coober Pedy, Alice Springs and Ayers Rock.
He flew to Perth and visited Rottnest Island, then headed south to Fremantle and Margaret River.
"I visited different areas in the west, as far as Broome and The Kimberley," Ron said.
"I was stuck in Darwin for 11 days because of the Queensland floods in Townsville."
He eventually made it to Townsville, also visiting Cooktown, Cairns, Rockhampton, Longreach, Brisbane, Toowoomba and Lightning Ridge, before going to Dubbo, Parkes, Tamworth and the Blue Mountains.
He spent his last five to six weeks in Sydney before heading home.
