Gwenda Carty, Cherie Frame def Minnie Riordan, Joan Simpson in a close game. Maureen Baillee, Pat Cooney def Jan McPhee, Kim Evans in a well-played game, close all the way.
Next week in the third round is Gwenda Carty, Cherie Frame v Rhona Went, Liz Byrne; and Robyn Morgan, Maree Grant v Maureen Baillee, Pat Cooney.
In social games played, Chris Cox, Audrey Jones def Kate Keogh, Di Howell; Frances Charlton, Hilda McPherson, Marja Iffland def Margaret Hawken, Flo Riseborough, Carol Reed; Laurie Keane, Maureen Miller, Heather Harvey def Kay Craft, June Burgess, Merilyn Rodgers. Winners on the day were Frances, Hilda, Marja. R/us Margaret, Flo and Carol.
Our six raffle winners were very happy with their large bags of chocolates and bunnies. Our trading table saw lots more treats won by happy members.
Our Biggest Morning Tea will be held May 21 with a scrumptious lunch and lots of things happening to raise money in the fight against cancer. Put the date on your calendar and bring along friends and family.
The club is having Easter Monday afternoon bowls with a mixed pairs game commencing at 1pm, 21 ends. Prizes donated by Rob Irving. Winners drawn by machine. Names in book or ring Monday between 12pm and 12.30pm. Come and have a great afternoon!
The club will be having Monthly Boot Sales on the last Sunday in the month commencing April 28. Carpark $10 or table inside club $20. Time 8.30am to 12.30pm. A great opportunity to clear unwanted items from the house and shed. Craft, Cakes, Slices etc inside.
Sell anything you want (except husbands, wives and children). Jumping castle for the kids. Come and support this event! Ring the club 68621446 to book a space.

Bridge
We had a good field on Thursday, April 11 with scores fairly even all round except for the top north souths. First on that side were Peter Quin and Louise Payne 64.58 followed by John Quin and Margaret Hawken 60.71. In third place were Jenny Freeman and Anne Berkeley 55.06 and fourth were Joan Reilly and Val Worthington 53.27. For the east west side Helen Hall and Jill Peterson were first with 56.55 followed by Val Boyd and Barbara Magill 53.27 and Keith Fiedler and Greig Ball 52.98.
There was a small field on Monday, April 15 and the winners were Wendy Andrews and Robyn Sheridan 61 per cent. Second were Bill Burke and Anne Berkeley 60 per cent and in third place were Gary Somers and Greig Ball 50.
Keith Fiedler and Warren Blatch took the honours on Tuesday, April 16 with 65.87. Jenny Freeman and Nancye Blatch were second with 64.48 followed by Greig Ball and Jan Freeman 55.56. Equal fourth on 48.21 were Beth Symington and Liz Matthews and Val Worthington and Barbara Magill.
