Peter Guppy said he and other members certainly stood up to their name.
"In two days, over a weekend, we cleaned and then painted the steam engine," Peter said.
"How different it looks after its first repainting in four years!"
The Parkes Action Club consists of retired Parkes Apex Club members, who put the loco where it stands today in 1975.
The 3075 "S" Class Steam Locomotive was purchased by the Parkes Apex Club on March 5, 1975 for a total cost of $5509.
The club reclaimed the copper boiler tubes and fire box wall before restoring 3075 to it's original glory.
It was placed in position at Kelly Reserve on August 10, 1975.
Locomotive 3075 stands as a memorial to the magnificent contribution made by the railway pioneers of Parkes.
