Junior Competition
Today will be the penultimate round of junior competition for this term. There are a couple of matches which have been postponed and are yet to be played. The competition will conclude next Tuesday, April 9.
ANZHotshots
Yesterday was the final day for the Monday HotShots program and this Friday will be the conclusion for this Term. HotShots has been a consistent development program for juniors coming into tennis and will continue with another 8 week program after the holidays. Online registrations for Term 2 will be open next week. Up to date info will be on Parkes Tennis Facebook page.
Junior Squds
Mondays junior development squads were huge successes with players working on their fitness, skill development and match play strategies. T
hey have concluded and will start again in Term 2. They run from 5-6.30pm with half hour of fitness and footwork, half hour of drills and half hour of points play.
In Term 2 there will be Monday and Wednesday Development Squads in action. There has been much interest in the squads to have juniors participating in either HotShots or Private lessons and then wanting to practise their tennis in a constructive environment again during the week.
The squads provide not only this element but also a team atmosphere with a lot of team building strategic fitness activities and doubles play.
The Monday squads will be for Yellow and Green ball while the Wednesday squads will cater for Green and Orange balls players. They run for eight weeks and are $150.
On Wednesday there is also a performance squad which caters for players at Regional and State level and this will continue next term.
PSSA Tennis
Parkes Public continued on their winning way last week with a comprehensive seven sets to one victory over Forbes Public.
Faith Clarke, Ella McColl, Tyson Lennox and Flynn Thompson were too good for their cross town rivals.
Parkes Public will now take on our friends from Tottenham Central in the quarter finals in Parkes in May.
Blayney JDS
The Blayney JDS is on this Sunday. Entries close tomorrow night on https://tournaments.tennis.com.au/sport/tournament.
This is a great starting point for all players in the development squads that are looking to play a little more tennis on the weekends against similar standards of entry level players.
