Under 17s North Parkes Oval, Parkes
Parkes Hawkes 9/133 in 25.2 overs (Mitch Wright 27, Royce Simpson 26n.o, Zayne Ehsman 20, Hunter Hawke 18, Hudson Hawke 15, Jed Matheson 2/10 off 3 overs, Connor Greenhalgh 2/9 off 3 overs, Toby Hurford 2/14 off 3 overs) defeated Forbes Acheson's 8/110 off 26 overs (Toby Hurford 51n.o, Jack Cole 28, Connor Greenhalgh 10, Harrison McGregor 3/8 off 3 overs, Hudson Hawke 1/8 off 3 overs, Abi Simpson 1/7 off 2 overs, Royce Simpson 1/15 off 3 overs) Hawkes won by 23 runs.
A very competitive but very fair game by both teams under the supervision of Parkes umpire Greg Morrissey and Forbes Junior Cricket President Jeff Nicholson.
Batting first, Hawkes soon realised they had a battle on their hands after Acheson's bowler Jed Matheson took two early wickets in his first over.
Sensible batting by Hunter Hawke and Mitch Wright restored the situation for Parkes before Hudson Hawke, Zayne Ehsman and Royce Simpson added quick runs towards the end of their innings.
Royce Simpson, in scoring 26n.o, certainly demonstrated why he received the Most Improved Player Award for the Hawkes team at the presentation ceremony on Sunday.
Jed Matheson, Connor Greenhalgh and Toby Hurford all demonstrated that they are talented bowlers by taking two wickets apiece for Acheson's.
Prior to the beginning of the Acheson's run chase Hawkes coach, Clinton Hawke stressed the need to maintain accuracy to his bowlers.
Throughout the entire innings, the Hawkes team carried out Clinton's advice in an exemplary manner. The Hawkes team did not bowl a single wide in the 26 over innings.
Abi Simpson gained an early breakthrough as she had Toby Matheson caught and bowled before Hudson Hawke had Josh Higgins snapped up by a smart catch taken by Corey Thompson.
Wickets fell throughout the Forbes innings until some aggressive batting by Toby Hurford (51n.o) and Jack Cole (28) boosted their tally. Toby Hurford deserves full credit for his fine innings.
Parkes Hawkes bowler Harrison McGregor demonstrated very brisk pace and accuracy as he produced two consecutive searing Yorkers to skittle the stumps of Forbes Acheson's batsmen.
A delighted Clinton Hawke gave full credit to his team for their effort in the final, their attendance and participation in training sessions during the season was a key ingredient for their premiership success.
Under 14s Spicer Oval, Parkes
Parkes Sixers 1/55 off 8 overs (Ryan Dunford 22 retired, Jack Milne 13 retired, Ewan Moody 7, Liam Moody 6n.o) defeated Parkes Thunder 10/53 in 22 overs (Joseph Tanswell 14n.o, Harry Jones 13, Flynn Thompson 2/4 off 2 overs, Ewan Moody 1/1 off 2 overs, Liam Moody 1/4 off 2 overs, Aiden Rayner 1/4 off 2 overs, Ryan Dunford 1/6 off 1 over, Connor Batt 1/7 off 2 overs) Parkes Sixers won by 9 wickets.
In a game that was expected to be a close tussle between the two rival Parkes team, the Sixers really put their mark on the match by having all their bowlers maintain a tight line and length policy that restricted the scoring of the early order Thunder batting line up and then went on to take wickets at regular intervals.
In reply Ryan Dunford and Jack Milne soon began to score quick runs to give the Sixers an easy victory in the Grand Final.
Full credit must go to both teams for making it through to the final after facing strong competition from the two Forbes teams throughout the 2018/19 season.
