Good news to report this week from our Pennant's teams. The 2's were away to Dubbo Railway Club. The home team were too good on two of the rinks with Mark Dwyer's team losing 18-31 and Mike Went's side going down in a very close game, 19-21. However Brett Frame's team had a great win, 27-8, giving a win on aggregate 64-60 and the points 8 - 2.
The 5's were at home to Cowra and won two of the three rinks and the aggregate score, 66-47 to take the points 9-1.
With Graham Barby playing some great bowls, Col Hayward's side won their rink 26-9. Gary McPhee's team won 21-17 and Brian Hampton's team were leading 19-18 but conceded three shots on the last end to go down 19-21.
Two great results and the 7's had a bye so a good weekend without a defeat. Congratulations to all the players involved.

Veteran's Golf
Seventy-one veteran golfers from the associated clubs travelled to Forbes last Thursday for the continuation of the Lachlan Valley 18 Holes Veteran Competition.
This was preceded by the Annual General Meeting of the Association. The old team of Peter Barnes (Forbes) as chairperson, Robert Lea (Parkes), as vice chairperson, Beryl Roberts (Forbes) as secretary, and Jeff Haley (Forbes) as captain, was returned for another year.
This is a good indication of the satisfaction in their efforts to keep the ship on a good course.
Two major decisions taken during the meeting were, that the Association would run a combined "Week of Golf".
The majority of the associated clubs support this motion but it must be ratified by the Association of NSW and that all clubs could decide on the cost of the day, to ensure that the coordinating club does not run the day at a loss. Now back to the golf.
The winner in A Grade was D. Thomas followed home by Ken Sanderson, in B Grade, J. Clyburn and P. Barnes and in C Grade, B. Clarke and G. Drane. Jeff Haley, D. Thomas and J Clyburn qualified for the NSW Veteran's medal.
Nearest the pin winners were, S. Kirkman, and G. Moncrieff. The points for the Coles/Miller Shield went to Forbes 125, with Condobolin, 113, second and Cowra, third, 112. Parkes finished fourth on 111.
This week we remain at Forbes for the local clash with Parkes and the following week we return to Parkes, when the game commences at 10am.

Racing
This was the race Justin Stanley wanted to win, the 2019 Trangie Gold Cup, at the same track and in the corresponding race five years ago, when his successful jockey career came to an abrupt end.
Fallon Street won the 2014 Cup but a few strides past the post went amiss and the injuries suffered by Stanley in the fall resulted in it being his last ride in a race.
Fortunately, he has become a successful trainer, firstly at Dubbo and now at Narromine , with highlights including wins with Something Borrowed and Good Host in Western Racing Association Qualifiers for the Country Championship Finals at Royal Randwick.
Back at Trangie on Saturday the Stanley stable was represented by the ten year old gelding Wollartant in the 1400 metres Three Rivers Machinery Trangie Gold Cup.
Well ridden by Bathurst based apprentice Ashleigh Stanley, the gallant Wollartant (2.50 favourite ) beat Rehanaat (Tiffany Jeffries, $3 ) by a head with over twelve lengths to third placed Rusty Motorbike ( Stephane Joseph, $8 ).
Wollartant has won the Bedgerabong Picnic Cup, a TAB race at Wellington and finished fourth in the Gilgandra Cup. Justin Stanley, Incision ( Jake Pracey-Holmes, $3 fav ) led all the way to win the Benchmark 50 Handicap ( 800 metres ) from Decades ( Andrew Banks, $17) and Divine Design ( Tony Cavallo, $5 )
The other 800 metres race, a Maiden Handicap, saw debut maker Altessdain ( Jake Pracey-Holmes-Holmes, $2.50 fav.) leading from the outset to score by two lengths from Carnegie's Monaco ( Tony Cavallo, $5 ) and Have'nt We All ( Kacie Chater, $13 ).
Former rugby league star Terry Fahey, now a trainer at Narromine, won the Maiden Plate ( 1200 metres ) with Nemo Dat. Headed in the straight by Rebellion ( Tiffany Jeffries,$11 ),Nemo Dat ( Tony Cavallo, $3.20 ) came again to win by a half neck with Mel Bea ( Ashleigh Stanley, $4.60 ) finishing third.
Formerly from Mauritius and now apprenticed to Rodney Robb at Nyngan, Stephane Joseph won the Benchmark 50 Handicap ( 1200 metres ) on Blue Channel for Robb and the owner-breeder John Smith from Gilgandra.
Blue Channel gained control to win by a length from the fast finishing Getting Ready ( Kacie Chater, $8 ) and one of the joint leaders, Coroglen ( Andrew Banks, $8 ).
Andrew Banks drove the Roy McCabe, Bathurst trained Gaze Beyond ( $3 ) to beat Infinite Advantage ( Jake Pracey-Holmes-Holmes, $7 ) and Fasfer ( Tiffany Jeffries, $4.60 ) in the 1300 metres Class 1 Handicap.
