This term will see four different divisions across Yellow, Green, Orange and Red balls with all players experiencing both singles and doubles matches every week.
Some of the older players involved in our development squads will be supervising matches and helping with positioning and also monitoring sportsmanship and encouraging positive attitudes on court.
Lachlan PSSA trials
Last week the Lachlan PSSA Trials were held in Parkes for players whose aim is to make the Western PSSA Team. 24 players from Parkes and Forbes Public Schools were in attendance and after four hours of matches the team was finally announced.
Boys will be Will Rix and Henry Kross from Parkes East, Flynn Thompson and Tyson Lennox from Parkes Public and Stirling from Forbes.
Girls will be Faith Clarke, Tia Dunn, Ella McCol from Parkes Public and Grace Dunford from Parkes East. The Western trials will be in Parkes on Wednesday, March 6.
Senior Competition
Senior competition began last Tuesday and it was a pretty good night of tennis and socialising. Top Shelf took on one of the new teams Full Metal Racquet. Stu Taylor, Chris Luke and Wade McConnell seemed a little rusty but will no doubt get their serves firing tonight when they take on Wasted Potential.
Wasted Potential scored a close four sets to two win over Wise Aces last week. Wasted was led by Brenden Weekes and great to see him back on court again after a short sabbatical. Thanks to Lily McCormick for subbing at last minute for Adam Jones while Greg Magill made up the Wasted Potential’s Team.
Wise Aces Team had a good start with some hard fought sets. Alan Zhu played well on Line 1 while Hayden Williams was down 5/1 against Greg and then started talking trucks and farming and all of a sudden it was 5/5. Hayden won the final game to take the set for Wise Aces.
Arana Discoteca players Matthew and Alejandro have been seen putting in some extra practise sessions and they will be keen to get back on court tonight.
Last week they had the services of Brendon Hunt filling in for them and they combined well to defeat Smashes team four sets to two. Smashes had Danny subbing for Fuyuki and he will return pumped for a big match tonight with team mates Peter Garvey and Jerry Cham.
Bogan Gate Bandits were in full flight last week taking on Mrs Brown’s Tennis Boys. Ben Rix had been coerced into a pre-comp practise with his boys and not sure which one of the four is taking the credit for his sudden form improvement.
Ben and Jake Ryan had a cracker singles with Ben winning 6/4. Jonty Ralph and Corey Rowbotham had tough wins against Andrew McPherson and Andrew McMurray to give Mrs Browns Tennis Boys a 4 sets to 2 win.
In the closest match of the night Arndells Aces defeated Mixed Lollies three sets all and 26 games to 25. Mitchell Arndell was all smiles reporting he won his first singles match against Rachel while dad Angus proved too consistent for super sub Mark Ritchie.
Welcome new players Anjana Hariharan and Jackie Batt who have joined Julian Fyfe in The Questionables team. They found the young guns Alley-Gaters too tough last week going down four sets to two.
Well the defending champs Dreamteam better have a round table discussion as they came out last week and were visibly lacking in court time.
They may have thought they’d be okay after watching the Aussie Summer of tennis on TV but hence The Dirty Daws smashed them five sets to one. Dreamteam will no doubt bounce back tonight when they take on Mixed Lollies.
