Owner David Potts kindly donated the $1000 prize to Parkes High School.
The float, organised by the Potts family, has won the Best Float prize in the Parkes Elvis Festival Northparkes Mines Street Parade for six of the 12 years it has been run.
Schools, businesses and community groups were urged to build a float and enter the Street Parade to be in the chance to win the grand prize.
Festival Director, Cathy Treasure, said it was a successful initiative.
“This prize, thanks to our sponsor Northparkes Mines, was a wonderful incentive for locals and visitors alike to get involved in the spirit of Parkes Elvis Festival and the ever-popular Street Parade,” Ms Treasure said.
“Congratulations to David Potts and his team on winning the Best Float prize.”
People came out in droves for the Northparkes Mines Street Parade on the Saturday of the Fesitval, which saw more than 11,000 people line the streets to enjoy more than 182 Elvis-themed floats, vintage cars, motorcycles, walking groups and marching bands – an increase on previous years.
David handed the cheque over to Parkes High School Principal Sandra Carter at a special presentation on February 5.
