This weekend sees the commencement of the Zone 4 Singles Championships, with again Sectional Play at some 16 Clubs right throughout the Zone. Over 300 Players will be competing in the three divisions, namely the OPEN Singles, The Senior Singles and the Presidents Singles:

Merilyn Rodgers has played Di Howell with Merilyn winning the match. (marker Rosemary Mitchell). In triples games played this week Gwenda Carty, Flo Riseborough, Minnie Riordan def Carol Reid, Frances Charlton, Rhona Went.
Di Greenhalgh, Kim Evans, Robyn Morgan defeated Lorraine Baker, Maureen Miller, Cherie Frame. In a pairs game Chris Curteis, Liz Byrne defeated Kay Craft, Maureen Baillee.
Winners in the 100 club were Di Howell, Maureen Baillee, Lorraine Baker. Winner for the day Merilyn Rodgers. A Trading Table will be held next week (19th) so please bring along your items for the table and enjoy some fun after bowls. Railway Bowls
On sat there was a game of major singles Allan Cameron versus Geoff Leonard. Geoff started well leading 9-0 then Allan ground his way back to 8-10, sadly that was all for Allan with Geoff going on to win.
Minor pairs saw Dave Law, Dave Willcockson play Wally (birthday boy) Grant and Allan Curteis this game was even early but wally and Allan to strong.
Fourteen Bowlers played social with George Greenhalgh and Gary Phillips winning the day Win15+12. Runners up John Monti ,Gene Rapp,Graham Thomson winning 15+8.
Sunday we had one game of Major singles played by Mike Phillips and Mick Furney watched by a large crowd. A great game ensued with mike leading 15-8 playing well, on one end he had two resting touchers at the same time .MIck got the mat and with short ends managed to win the game 31-23.
Wednesday's chicken run had 18 bowlers, winners were Dave Willcockson, Steve Clegg and Wally Grant winning 15+17. Runners up Janice Robinson, John Dunn and Kevin Hynds w 14+19.marble three came out, no winners so next week the jackpot is $300 and $100.
One game of minor pairs played, Maria Willcockson and John Monti versus Terry Hetherington, Gene Rapp with Terry and Gene winning. Thursday night we have our power pairs starting. Teams of three so get your names in for 5.30pm for a 6pm start .
On Saturday we have the presidents singles played at our club. There will be six games played in the morning and 12 in the afternoon, so there wont be any social bowls played. Friday nite Raffles as usual 15 meat trays to be won .Members draw is $550 and the jackpot stands at $950. See you there.

Last Thursday, February 7 winners for north south were Louise Payne and Peter Quin 60.36 per cent. Second were Jenny Freeman and Anne Berkeley 56.07 and third were Rosemary Morris and John Quin 51.79.
For east west Bev Laing and Isabel Orange topped with 61.67. Keith Fiedler and Helen Hall scored 60 per cent and Val Worthington and Joan Reilly made 53.33.
On Monday, February 11 Suzie McNamara and Pam Mowtell came first with 57.14. It was great to see Pam back at the bridge table and we hope she can come regularly from now on.
In second place were the ever consistent Jennifer Calvert and Dawn Phipps 54.76. Beryl Twardy and Bill Burke came third with 52.98 just ahead of Rosemary and Steve Morris on 52.38.
Bev Laing and Jenny Freeman took out the honours on Tuesday, February 12 with 59 per cent. There was a tie for second on 54 per cent between Keith Fiedler and Barbara Magill and Jill Peterson and Lee McCabe. Well done!
It was Lee's first competition game at the club and she and Jill only learnt the game in the past year. We hope more of our learners will come regularly to play. The more you play the more you learn.
Two Parkes teams travelled to Orange last Sunday to play in their annual Valentine's Day competition. We had an enjoyable outing but did not come home with any prizes.

Dragon’s Lair
Sunday, February 10 the Parkes Services Social Golfers played a Stableford Event for trophies and raffle supplied by the Club.
Winner on the day was Robert Hey with a Par Round with 40 points. Keep it up Rob because you know who has given you a Handicap of Zero. (great round).
Runner up was Phil Smith also on 40 points and coming in third was Phil Wennerbom with 38 points and a Bellyfull of Mushrooms.
Ladies Nearest the Pin Winners fourth Lyn Davison and 11th Margaret Hogan.
Men's Nearest the Pin Winners first Robert Hey, sixth Richard Wells, 11th Ross Smith with a Birdie. (Believe it or not) and 15th Robert Hey.
Lucky Card Draw won by Ray Cabban. Bunny Award went to the Rabbit in Bill Warren.
Raffle Winner was Tom Delmenico with Golf Balls going to Ross Smith and Sue Smith winning the last two.
Next Week we play a stroke event for our monthly award and putting competition with trophies and raffle supplied by The Parkes Services Club.

Last weekend we saw 11 shooters attend the Deep Lead shooting complex. Shooting at ordinary target at both 25 and 50 for a maximum of 500 points.

David Wilson 250 for only 25 meters and he shot another target for practice only. Bernie Heatherington 237 for 25 meters only and Major Mitchell shot the lie down Smallbore for practice.
Field Rifles
John Smeaton 237, 235, 482 and two shot for practice only. Our next shoot is on Sunday, February 17 at 10am and again will be ordinary targets at both ranges. Last week we received offical word that all inquires at firearms registry must go through the computer.
