It was the 66th reunion of family and friends from Bogan Gate since brothers Sandy McKeowen and Bandy (Jack) McKeowen, together with friend Ted Naughton, started the tradition in 1953 after they moved away and pledged to meet on the first Sunday in February under the same tree.
In 1998 money was raised to have a memorial seat placed under the tree in honour of the tradition.
The memorial seat is situated in the gardens up from the duck pond on the left hand side looking up from the harbour, on the edge of the palm garden.
