It comes in the form of this cute little 1957 Austin Lancer that Ron has enjoyed restoring.
Ron's father who was also named Ron bought the Austin in 1978 from a fellow called Geoff Scarr who he worked with on the railway and Geoff's sister from Trundle had originally owned it.
She had bought the Austin brand new in 1957 from the BMC (British Motor Corporation) dealer at Webb's Garage in Bushman Street in Parkes so it has spent all of its 60 plus years in the local area.
Ron senior drove the Austin for a few years until the front suspension collapsed in the 1980's and he was forced to put it off the road.
By 1994 he'd realised that he was not going to ever repair the Lancer and so he gave it to Ron junior who over the next few years set about restoring it.
"The car was all complete" Ron said "and the parts that I did need were easy to get".
Ron had any of the work that he couldn't do done locally and completed the rest himself.
The Austin was repainted in its original colour with the addition of whitewall tyres and fitted with new hood-lining, carpet and re-upholstered interior to have it looking as good as it does today.
"It has a 1600cc four cylinder engine with a four speed manual transmission and surprisingly it will still sit on 60 mph on the highway" said Ron.
Being a four door sedan the Austin Lancer was actually considered a medium sized car in its' day.
It has bucket seats up front and a bench seat in the back so it would have been capable of transporting five people.
For Ron it's all about the tinkering. He's been interested in cars ever since owning his first Vauxhall at age 14 and he's been driving ever since.
Sadly Ron's dad didn't live to see the Austin complete but Ron is proud to drive it as his legacy to him.
