Outstanding Parkes bowler Phil Dunford spearheaded the Parkes victory by taking a hat trick to dismiss Grenfell's top order batsmen before ending up with the fine figures of 4/19 off 5 overs.

Phil was not the only Parkes player to excel in this game as youngster Ryan Dunn (4/17 off 8.3 overs) turned in a top spell of well flighted accurate off spin bowling to mesmerise the Grenfell batting line up.

Parkes opening batsmen Zac Bayliss (40no off 33 balls with 3 towering sixes and 1 four) and Myles Smith (19no off 20 balls with 2 big sixes) made short work of the run chase.

Both players gave ample evidence of why they are highly regarded in Parkes, Lachlan and Western Zone Cricket ranks.

Scores were: Grenfell 59 in 27.3 overs (Matt Tozer 17, Zac Starr 16, Charlie Mitton 14, Phil Dunford 4/19 off 5, Ryan Dunn 4/17 off 8.3, Shane Jones 1/3 off 5 & Brent Tucker 1/6 off 6) lost to Parkes 0/60 off 8 overs (Zac Bayliss 40no, Myles Smith 19no).

Parkes won by 10 wickets. The next defence of the Grinsted Cup is scheduled for Sunday, January 27 when Molong will try to claim the Cup from Parkes.

This weekend will see both the Parkes Local Cricket and Lachlan Premier Cricket Competitions restart following the Christmas break.
