This means many Parkes and festival fans are putting the finishing touches on their floats and entries for the Northparkes Mines Street Parade on Saturday, January 12 at 10am.
For those who have participated in the street parade before, there are a few changes to the marshalling areas this year (see map above).
For floats and vehicles, the marshalling/registration area is at the Clarinda Street and Victoria Street intersection.
To be able to access this registration area, entrants will need to enter via Mitchell Street, north of Victoria Street.

For walkers in the parade, the marshalling area is in Bushman Street, east of Clarinda Street.
“We are always looking for ways to improve our events and there was an opportunity this year to make the street parade registrations process a little easier,” festival director Cathy Treasure said.
“We hope that everyone is as excited as we are for the parade. It'll be the best one yet.”
Also new for the Northparkes Mines Street Parade this year, there is a $1000 prize for the best float, with the winning team to donate the prize money to a local school, sporting or community group.
Entries are still open for the 2019 Northparkes Mines Street Parade.
