At Spicer Oval Raptors win a thriller over Bowling Club.
In a very closely contested match the Raptors just snuck home to record a one wicket victory over a keen Bowling Club team at Spicer Oval.
The scores were: Bowling Club 10-107 in 26.4 overs (Tom Bateson 29, Nathan Hessel 17, Shauna Bateson 16, Alec Bateson 13, Nathan Pye 2/14 off four overs, Ben Coulter 2/12 off two overs, M Clark 1/10 off two overs, A Halls 1/3 off two overs, Kyle Branscombe 3/ 4 off 2.4 overs, lost to Ready Creek Raptors 9/112 in 27.3 overs (Jacob Hutchings 29, Kyle Branscombe 31 not out, Kurt Matthews 16, A Halls 10, Adam Parkes 3/28 off six overs, Alec Bateson 3/23 off six overs, Matt Swindle 1/13 off 4.3 overs). At Keast Park No 1: Stuart Milne 271 not out in a mammoth batting display lead Reedy Creek t a big win over Pythons.
Whether the recent launch of Ken Piesses book concerning Cec Pepper – the best cricketer never to play for Australia inspired Stuart Milne to play such a huge innings on the Keast Park ground where Cec Pepper scored 258 not out in 1935 as a young teenager (see the Cec Pepper plaque unveiled at Keast Park in May 2010) is uncertain.
Whatever the case Stuart Milne the local Parkes Police officer can be credited with a huge score that most probably is the highest score recorded in the annuls of Parkes and District Cricket Association.
The scores in this game were: Reedy Creek 1/386 in 30 overs (Stuart Milne 271 not out, Grant Dunn 94) defeated Parkes Hotel Pythons 144 in 27 overs (no batting details were available, Mitch Stubberfield 2.32 off four overs, Craig Chapplen 1/16 off five overs, Jackson Glasheen 2./7 off three overs, Cody Hall 1/7 off two overs, Michael Ostler 2/9 off three overs. Reedy Creek (5 points) defeated Parkes Hotel Pythons by 242 runs.
Obviously Stuart Milne’s batting extravaganza was the centrepiece of this game however special mention must be made of the fine effort by Grant Dunn who scored 94 to assist Stuart in compiling such a huge opening partnership.
No doubt the Reedy Creek team would also be very proud of young Cody Hall who took 1/7 off two overs to prove why it was not fluke for Cody to win a best and fairest award in junior cricket last season.
At North Parkes Oval – North Parkes Cricket Club defeated Parkes Hotel Galahs in a top game.
In a very well contested match, played in good spirit, an improving North Parkes Cricket Club held on to record a 34 run victory over a keen Parkes Hotel cricket team.
The scores were: North Parkes Cricket Club 6/175 off 30 overs (Peter Webb 106, B Clinton 34, Brad Parker 1/23 off six overs) defeated Parkes Hotel Galahs 7/141 off 30 overs (Brad Parker 45, Brent Skinner 41, J Webb 16, Jonty Ralph 2/13 off six overs, Ben Rearden 2/21 off six overs, Usman Cheema 1/12 off three overs). Northparkes 5 points defeated Galahs 0 points.
The North Parkes Cricket Club victory was highlighted by a fine innings of 106 off 82 balls with six fours by newcomer to Parkes cricket in Peter Webb. Peter demonstrated that he is a correct batsman with a good range of strokes as he compiled his valuable innings. He put in an opening partnership of 107 with B Clinton who did well to score 34 runs with three fours.
Peter Webb may have been fortunate to survive a close lbw appeal earlier in his innings but he certainly displayed ample determination and ability to score his 106 runs.
Brad Parker put in a spirited bowling effort for the Galahs. In reply a fired up North Parkes team made runs hard to come by in the first 15 overs of the Galah’s innings.
Jonty Ralph was particularly impressive with a splendid spell of bowling to take 2/13 off six overs. Another newcomer in Ben Rearden took the wicket of Mitch Hutchings with a searing yorker.
Brad Parker (45 off 63 balls) and Brent Skinner (41 off 45 balls) kept Galahs in the game with an 85 run partnership for the sixth wicket however North Parkes held on to record their good victory by 34.
