The group welcomes anyone interested in connecting with Parkes’ multicultural community to come and join them.
The Parkes Meet and Greet group will meet this Friday, November 2 at 12 noon at Neighbourhood Central at 80 Currajong Street, Parkes.
The topic is summer khaftan making, where attendees have the opportunity to see Jummy’s skills as she sews her bright African fabric.
Members will also be able to make their own pattern to take home and recreate their very own summer khaftan!
Migrant Support Officer for the region, Anni Gallagher said the Parkes Meet and Greet group is an ideal time to meet others, and get connected in Parkes area.
“This is especially to encourage any newly arrived migrant, refugees or others new to Parkes to come along,” she said.

“We will also take a moment to remember the wonderful Mrs Dorothy Coddington, a founding member with our group, who sadly passed away last week,” Anni said.
“You will be very much missed dear Dorothy, we send our blessings – to you, as to your family and friends, special lady.”
