This was a two-day workshop run by TennisNSW where students in Years 9 and 10 went to the Sydney International Tennis Centre and learned about leadership skills, problem solving, teamwork and the benefits of growing their individual self confidence and having a positive attitude to share with their peers through tennis and life.
They enjoyed a range of activities including rock climbing and ziplining as well as listening to special guests talk about their tennis experiences and life experiences around leadership.
The program aimed to engage and educate the participants so they are able to confidently set goals and make positive change back in their local environments.
They also developed a network of resources and contacts and gained transferable skills that can be used both on the tennis court and through all aspects of life.
The other player selected in Central West was Tayla Brasier from Bathurst.
Abbey and Tayla will get together again with the whole group at the Sydney International and present individual projects they have been working on to TennisNSW staff and the Future Leaders group.
This is another great initiative run by TennisNSW for its Members and giving back to the Communities.
The Course was totally funded by TennisNSW and Abbey had a wonderful weekend of meeting new friends and building her leadership skills.
