A great weekend of tennis and socialising was had by all. Ben Evans brought home two winners cheques when he partnered Jake Magill to win the Special Mens Doubles and then partnered Phoebe Potts to score another win in the Special Mixed Doubles. Ben went out in the quarters of the AMT Conso but played some of his best tennis this year. Jake Magill is still finding his way after an injury prone year and he is continuing to be more consistent with his groundstrokes and will be working hard on his serving this term to find some more rhythm. Jake was involved in one of the longest matches of the tournament in the 1st round of the AMT Conso when he defeated his Sydney opponent 6/7(11-9), 7/6(10-8), 12-10 in almost 2.5hrs.
Other results included: Hannah Potts- Winner Special Ladies Singles, runner up AMT Ladies Singles Conso, Semi AMT Doubles. Phoebe Potts- Winner Special Mixed.
Abbey Kennedy- runner up Special Ladies Singles (defeated No.2 seed in semi), runner up in AMT Ladies Doubles, runner up in Special Ladies Doubles.

Last week Parkes played hosts to a Tennis Australia Community Coaches Course delivered by Tennis Australia Coach Developers Kath Fahim and Helen Magill. 18 participants from across regional NSW and ACT were eager to listen and learn across the three days. This is the first level of coaching and all those who were deemed competent have gained their trainee membership to tennis coaching and are now officially part of the Tennis Australia Coach Membership Team. This successful group can now go back to their centres after being up skilled across all stages of ANZHotShots Tennis and deliver quality lessons. Some of the participants are without a Head Coach at their centres so they will take on this responsibility. The Parkes team of eight are fortunate they have Helen on hand to learn from and realised they already had quite a lot of the knowledge base delivered in this course from her mentoring. Great to see almost 30 juniors come along and act as students for the coaches as they delivered unique Red, Orange and Green ball activities. Most of the other Courses use the adult learners as students but it was a much more positive and realistic experience to have youngsters in action providing a few challenges for the Coaches. Many thanks to Parkes Shire Council and North Parkes for their support for the Course and this acquired knowledge can only help to increase opportunities to grow participation and see more active kids throughout the Shire.
Meanwhile ANZHotShots, Junior squads and private lessons are back into action this week. A busy term ahead with JDS Champion of Champions Finals(Oct 28th)day,Todd Woodbridge Cup Regional Finals(Nov 2nd), as well as Todd Woodbridge Cup Finals(Nov 18th) and TennisNSW State Finals(Dec 1-3). Locally the annual Bokeyar Cups on November 11th will be the next big event followed by the McDonalds/Magill Interschool Day on Thursday November 29th . More details when events are closer.
The September HotShots Happy Box Winner was Oscar Hendry who was drawn out by the Coaches and as Oscar was on holidays, he was presented with his prize by Coach Jake last week. Oscar always comes to tennis with a smile and brings a positive attitude and his best manners. Well done Oscar!
