All four councils in the Orange Electorate are receiving more than $5.7 million combined under the program, with a total of 22 projects being funded.
“Local projects make a huge impact on communities, and can have a huge impact on boosting local business and community cohesiveness,” Mr Colless said.
“Under this initiative projects range from small to large, and each one is as important as the other. Every project is about bolstering our country areas and ensuring they continue to grow and contribute to our state.
Parkes Shire Mayor Ken Keith OAM welcomed the funding, saying Parkes Shire Council benefitted greatly under round one of the program, and further funding under round two will continue to help develop the growing regional centre.
“We are very grateful to the NSW Government for the current grant funding delivered under the Stronger Country Communities Fund, helping to improve the lives of local residents and enhance the attractiveness of regional areas to live and work,” he said.
“These projects, valued at more than $2 million, were identified by our residents as priorities during community consultation workshops held throughout the Parkes Shire in 2017.
“This funding will go a long way towards providing necessary upgrades to six community infrastructure projects, ensuring our region can continue to support our growing community and attract further visitation and investment.”
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro said the roll out of the second round of projects takes Stronger Country Communities funding to $300 million.
