A storm system moving through the area dumped inches of ice and water on the road, and police closed it shortly after 3pm Wednesday.
Police would like to advise motorists who may be using the Eugowra Road between Parkes and Forbes to exercise extreme caution.
The road is still open but police said there is thick ice about 15 kilometres out of Parkes.
Police are on scene.
Parkes is expecting between 5-10mm of rain this afternoon, while the Forbes Airport had recorded 17mm in the hour to 3.30pm.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Central West Slopes and Plains at 3.37pm.
