Railway Bowls
Last Wednesday was a wash out and Saturday saw only 4 social and 4 championship bowlers play due to the fact that we supported the Town Club Tournament and most players were either away or playing there over the weekend.

The handicap pairs match saw Luke Ramsay and Luke Cross play Peter Creith and Graham Cole.
This was a close match all the way with the two Lukes' running out winners on the last end 22 to 20.
The Social match between Gene Rapp and George Greenhalgh against Terry Hetherington and Alan Curteis started a bit one sided with Gene and George getting away to a big lead but Terry and Alan pegged them back to be only 2 shots behind with 1 end to go but Gene and George prevailed winning the last end.
The Club Championship Triples and Fours are down to the finals and the Handicap pairs are down to the last round so keep your eye on the board for these matches.
DATES TO REMEMBER
Champagne Triples on the 27th and 28th of this month.
This is our big tournament of the year and should attract many teams from around the district with prize money of $4.050 courtesy of the Parkes Services Club and Toohey's.
This is an open event for Mens teams, Womens teams' or Mixed teams.
So if you have not yet got your team in time is running out. Should be a big weekend.
And don't forget the Annual General Meeting this Sunday 14th October at 10am.
There is a list on the Notice Board for nominations for positions on the Board and the Bowls Committee.
We need names for these positions as you can't run this great little club without these people so give this some thought.

Dragon’s Lair
Sunday, October 7 the Parkes Services Social Golfers played a Stroke Event for the October Monthly Award and Putting Competition with The Parkes Services Club supplying the Trophies and Sue Smith's Trophy.
Ladies Scratch & Handicap Winner was Lyn Davison 70 nett.
Ladies Nearest the Pins were taken out by Lyn Davison on fourth and 11 Holes.
Men's Winner was Ray Cabban with a score of 64 Nett.
Once again our River Trip failed to brighten up our Captain Chop, Stripping eight shots off Ray's Handicap with Lyn losing six shots.
A strong suggestion to our Captain next week is to wear plenty of protective gear about the Head after this story goes to Press.
Men's Scratch Winner was Ian Phipps.
Men's Handicap Runner up was Robert Rea 67 nett and coming in Third was Phil Smith with 71 nett on a count-back.
Men's Nearest the Pins fourth Phil Smith, sixth Robert Rea, 11th Bill Warren and 15th Ian Phipps.
Lucky Card Draw Winner Brian Hogan.
The Old Dragon seems to be making a habit of taking home the Bunny Award albeit on a Countback with a lot of distractions from Brian Hogan.
Putting Competition won by Margaret Hogan with just 27 Putts.
Raffle Winner was Phil Smith with Ray Cabban taking out the remaining 2 Golf Balls.
Next Event will be the 4BBB Championships with Partners drawn on the day.
Trophies & Raffle both kindly donated by Robert Rea. Go the Dragons

Parkes SSAA Smallbore
Last weekend we saw six shooters attend the Deep Lead shooting complex.
They shot at standard targets at both 25 and 50 meters for a maximum of 500 points.
Brian Drabsch 250, 247, 497
John Davis 250, 240, 490
John Smeaton 248, 231, 479

Jeff Winner 223, for 25 meters only and Steve Mitchel shot the lie down Smallbore for practice only. Our next shoot is at 1pm Sunday, October 14 and will be an animal target at both ranges.
At the end of this month all attendances will be sent into our state office and any person who does not have their four shoots for target, two for hunting will be sent a courtesy letter informing them just how many they have up, if any.
You will have just three months to catch up or risk loosing your shooters licence. We shoot every Sunday at Smallbore and Centre Fire at Eugowra.
Every third Saturday at sporting clay, so there are plenty of shoots you can attend.
