Doubles featured in all three grades with some excellent scoring despite the greens only being cored earlier last week.
Myles Smith was a convincing winner in A grade, putting together a fine round.
Smith shot 76 off the stick to win the scratch, with his nett score of 67 equalling the best of the day.
Tony Hendry also put together a strong round to claim the B grade double.
Hendry shot 82 off the stick to win the scratch, equating to 69 nett to claim the handicap.
In C grade, John Pearce equalled Smith’s nett score with a very good 67 nett.
His score of 88 off the stick was good enough to claim the scratch award.
The renovated greens obviously suited Peter Dixon’s putting strokes as he took out the Griffins Leading Edge putting competition.
He only needed 24 putts for the day.
Other notable handicap scores for the day included Reg Davison with 68 nett, Phil Bishop 69, Paul Lewin 70, Grady Magill, Todd Jayet, Troy Thomson, Matt Lawryk and Tim Lasserre all with 71, and Richard Hutchings 72 on a countback.
In the nearest the pins, Todd Jayet hit a good shot into the Idlerite-Tyrepower 1st hole.
He left himself a 610cm putt for birdie.
Grady Magill won both the nearest the pin and the money hole award on the Griffins Leading Edge 4th hole.
His tee shot to 270cm could not be beaten on the day.
Wayne Tucker fired a good shot into the Dirt Doctor Landscaping 6th hole.
He left himself a very make-able look at birdie from only 273cm.
Anthony Riach hit the closest tee shot off the day into the Harvey Norman 11th hole.
His tee shot to 220cm was closest across all the par three holes last Saturday.
Rob Hey finished closest on the final par three.
His tee shot to the elevated green on the Westlime 15th hole finished 600cm from the pin.
It was no wonder Peter Dixon won the putting competition.
He left himself a short putt on the Parkes Readymixed Concrete 9th hole after his approach finished 126cm from the cup.
Tony Hendry also hit a good approach shot into the Central West Glass 18th hole.
His approach came to rest 193cm from the flag.
This weekend, Parkes Golf Club members will compete in a two person ambrose sponsored by the Parkes Golf Club Life Members.
The following weekend is an 18 hole Irish team stableford sponsored by Paul Thomas and Ken Ryan.
