Based in Parkes at Bindogundra, the animal loving organisation has recently scaled up its rescue operation due to ever increasing demand, and is now rescuing over 50 puppies of all sizes and shapes each month from rural and remote communities, together with their mums.
And so when leading animal health company Zoetis approached national animal welfare charity PetRescue with a generous $100,000 donation of Canex Puppy Suspension, the founder of Wally's Dog Rescue, Cathy Arman, was contacted immediately so that the significant donation could be passed on.
“Wally's has been inundated with pups in the last 12 months particularly,” said Cathy, whose team covers a 2000 kilometre rescue-radius as part of their rural and remote rescue work.
“The majority of mums and pups arrive in terrible condition, with health issues including worms, fleas, ticks, parvovirus and extreme malnutrition.”
Fortunately, in many ways these pups are the lucky ones.
Besides addressing their veterinary and nutritional needs, the team at Wally’s nurtures each and every puppy, helping them to recover from their early trauma and ultimately caring for them with such dedication and devotion that they blossom into happy, healthy puppies which can be transitioned into loving homes.
“While they are with us we smother them with love, we fulfil all their practical needs and we give them opportunities to socialise and be happy, friendly dogs,” Cathy said.
“We’re extremely appreciative of the ongoing support we’ve had from PetRescue.
“Not only does their website enable us to find wonderful homes for our rescue pups, but the donations they have channelled through to us from organisations such as Zoetis means we struggle less to pay healthcare costs, so we can focus on what we do best - saving lives.”
Wally's Dog Rescue saves young dogs and pups from areas including Cobar, Broken Hill, Brewarrina, Bourke, Wilcannia, Orange, Forbes, Dubbo, Parkes, Molong, Peak Hill, Eugowra, Canowindra, Manildra, Condobolin, Mudgee, Quirindi, Muswellbrook, Singleton, Nyngan and Tomingley.
In addition to their work in rural communities, Wally's also rescues pups in Sydney, Central Coast, the Hunter and the Port Stephens regions.
