Families in Crisis is a service The Salvation Army offers Australia-wide to give hope where it is needed most through our social welfare and community service programs.
Programs include providing shelter for the homeless, assisting families in crisis through practical support and financial counselling, and guiding people with addictions through to a clean, healthy lifestyle.
Whether it is fire, flood, drought, domestic violence or financial hardship through unemployment, the services are there to give hope when it is needed most.
The Salvation Army provides care and support to tens of thousands of families across the country 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
While Australia is the land of opportunity for so many, the unfortunate reality is that the economic divide in our society is widening.
“The drought is having a huge impact in and around Parkes that is affecting our residents living in our home and their families,” Leona Fisher, Rosedurnate Aged Care Plus Centre Manager said.
“This morning tea is really important in helping to create awareness and much needed funds for families in crisis.”
These events are held as part of the annual Walkathon activities held at all Aged Care Plus properties across Queensland, NSW and ACT.
Now celebrating their 10th year, the Walkathon has raised over $600,000 to support Australia’s most vulnerable.
