With the first track for Inland Rail due to be laid in the Central West soon, community members are encouraged to learn more about Inland Rail activities and opportunities in their region with 10 consultation sessions being held throughout September in Parkes, Peak Hill, Narromine, Curban, Baradine, Gilgandra and Narrabri.

The Parkes drop-in session will be held on Tuesday, September 11, from 5pm to 7.30pm, at the Parkes Community Working Hub Shopfront.
The Peak Hill drop-in session is on Wednesday, September 12, 5-7.30pm at Peak Hill Ex-Services and Citizens Club, Peak Hill.
The community sessions will cover the Parkes to Narromine and Narromine to Narrabri sections of the project and follow local industry briefings in August which were attended by nearly 400 local businesses and workers hoping to benefit from the project.
Inland Rail NSW Community Engagement Manager Helena Orel said ARTC is committed to working closely with communities and stakeholders.
“Our goal is to deliver the best possible rail line and the community's input is a very important part of the process throughout the full project lifecycle,” Ms Orel said.
“These upcoming sessions provide opportunities for people in the Central West to hear directly from project representatives, to ask questions of the subject matter experts and offer their feedback, but also hear about the local benefits of the project.
“We were very pleased with the turnout at our recent industry briefings and the enthusiasm of local companies and workers who want to make the most of the huge opportunities Inland Rail will bring.”
Ms Orel said that for the Narromine to Narrabri project, evening information meetings and daytime drop in sessions were being arranged in key townships along the alignment which will focus on the investigations and planning process for the Environmental Impact Statement and design phase.
For sessions in the Parkes to Narromine section, local residents will have an opportunity to find out what’s involved with the construction phase of the project.
“We want local people to be well informed about the contracts and jobs this project will deliver and we’ll continue to work with local communities so they reap the benefits as much as possible.”
Inland Rail representatives will also be at the ARTC stand at upcoming agricultural shows in Peak Hill and Narromine where locals can find out more about the project.
Inland Rail is a once-in-a-generation project connecting regional Australia to domestic and international markets.
