The show committee has been hard at work along with the help of many volunteers to get the grounds and entertainment ready for action. Parkes Show President Peter Unger, said that everyone had offered their time and talents along with support and encouragement.
“Nothing seems too hard and it’s a privilege to work with a great bunch of ‘can do’ people. The willingness of stewards and volunteers to do what they do so well, ensures that our show is the great success it is,” he said.
Like most regional shows this year, the drought has certainly had an effect on entries in both stock sections and pavilion categories such as fruit, vegetable and crops. However the judges are still expecting a large number of entries that display the high quality of agriculture across the Parkes region.
With the vast array of sections and exhibits to enter again this year, there is lots of opportunity to show what talent and produce we have within our community.
- Peter Unger, Parkes Show President
Livestock have always been a feature of the Parkes Show and offer an opportunity for people to see some of the best animals in the country whether it’s sheep, cattle, dogs, chooks, horses, parrots, or the array of little animals in the animal nursery.
The cattle section draws entries from far and wide, and offers a huge cash prize pool thanks to Janlin and Landmark Parkes, while all is in readiness for the Agriwest Sheep Show which will once again showcase the districts leading studs and producers, with over $2500 in prize money on offer.
