Although the local Parkes Domestic and Family Violence Committee certainly acknowledges that domestic violence affects men as well, the purpose of White Ribbon is to engage men in making women’s safety a mans issue too.
The committee is committed to providing year round support for the community and those who may be experiencing domestic violence but also supports strong initiatives such as the White Ribbon march.
The committee is also committed to values such as courage, integrity, respect, collaboration and leadership and being able to bring these to bear in all facets of what they do.
If anyone feels they need to speak to someone confidentially, they can seek out local services or even contact the 24 hour national sexual assault, domestic and family violence counselling and information referral service 1800RESPECT (1800 737 732).
