Police stopped the driver of a Mitsubishi Magna in Clarinda Street at 12.20pm for random testing.
He was given a roadside breath test which returned a negative result, however an oral fluid test returned a positive result for cannabis.
He was arrested and taken to Parkes Police Station for a Drager test which also returned a positive result for cannabis.
Police will await results of further analysis before any action is taken.

A 48-year-old Parkes woman will face court on three charges after she was arrested in Clarinda Street early on Friday morning.
Police stopped the woman to speak to her at 7.30am.
Once out of her car the woman ran from police who chased and caught her a short distance away.
She resisted being placed under arrest and was restrained.
During the struggle the woman dropped a small tin containing what police allege to be the drug ice.
She was given a roadside breath test which returned a negative result, however an oral fluid test returned a positive result for methylamphetamine.
The woman was arrested and taken to Parkes Police Station for a Drager test which also returned a positive result for methylamphetamine.
She was charged with drive while disqualified, possess prohibited drug and resist arrest.
Police will await results of further analysis before any action is taken on the positive drug results.
