The Championships also saw the one of the States premier amateur golfing events the Keno Men’s four Ball Handicap Championship played in conjunction and heading the excellent field were the Forbes pairing of Neil Duncan and Richard Nixon dominate the 18 hole Par event when they recorded a solid +eight and this will enable the pairing to contest the all-expenses paid State Final that will be played at the Bonville Golf Resort from the 2 - 5 October.
Meanwhile in the LVDGA 4Ball Championships the Parkes pairing of Mitchell McGlashan and Zac Kelly took out the Scratch event at two over Par to be two shots clear of another Parkes pairing of brothers Myles and Blake Smith.
The local Forbes club dominated the Handicap section when as previously mentioned victory went to Neil Duncan and Richard Nixon who finished just one shot ahead of runners ups Andrew Dukes and Michael Spice who survived a countback from another Forbes pairing of Steve Grallelis and Ralph Baker.
LVDGA President Paul Thomas congratulated the winners prior to announcing the Districts Representative team who will travel to Goulburn in October to contest the NSW Country Championships.
The full team is John and Steve Betland and Peter Dawson all of Forbes plus Mitch McGlashan and Zac Kelly of Parkes and West Wyalong’s Paul Redman with Paul Thomas as the Manager.
Another Parkes player Robert Hey was announced as the reserve.
Women’s Bowling
The Final of the Club Championship Triples was played this week and the winners were Gwenda Carty, Cherie Frame, Rhona Went after defeating Betsy Johnstone, Brenda Davies, Liz Byrne in a tight game to the last few ends.
In a pairs game Lorraine Baker, Marja Iffland def Chris Curteis Rosemary Mitchell.
In a triples game Di Howell, Frances Charlton, Maureen Baillee def Jenny Pall, Merilyn Rodgers, Joan Simpson.
Winners for the day were Lorraine and Marja.
The next Trading Table will be held next week (August 14) so please bring along your new items for the Table.
The Parkes Classic Triples will be held August 18-19 and should be a great weekend.
Jackies Bowls will be in attendance to stock up on your bowling needs.
The Club Championship Fours will open on August 21 and close 12pm September 4, so get your nominations in please.
Parkes Showday August 28 no social bowls will be played.

Railway Men’s bowling
A quiet weekend as far as matches are concerned but several matches set down for this weekend, three games of Triples as follows Mark Francis, Ray Griffith and Steve Frame play Pig Phillips, Bernie Coleman and Gary Phillips,
Allan Cameron, Kevin Wales and Geoff Leonard versus Clive Stibbard Col Boehm and Lea Hetherington in the final match Ron Murray, Neville Currey and Terry Hetherington play Chad Weekes,Luke Cross and Luke Ramsay all bowlers are reminded that the Annual fees must be played before commencement of play, best of luck to all teams.
Social Bowls played on Saturday winners on the day were Ron Murray and Wally Grant Runners up Marty Fitzpatrick,Mike Phillips and Mick Furney.
Wednesday winners Allan Curtious,Brian Smith and Mark Fitzpatrick. Runners up Bill Searl,Col Hornery and Gene Rapp
Social Bowls this weekend names in by 12.30pm for 1pm start, quiet a few fixtures coming up check the board for more details on the social side members and guests are asked to organise a team for the Trivia Night to be held on the August 25.

Bridge
We had eight tables on Thursday, August 2 and it was a special competition for the Statewide Pairs.
The boards were set by the NSW association and all players would have played the same boards.
We hope our top scorers have achieved enough points to get them on to the next step of the competition which will probably be played in Orange.
North south equal winners were Louise Payne, Peter Quin, Keith Fiedler and Greig Ball all on 63.94. Warren and Nancye Blatch were third with 53.72.
For east west Beth Thomas and Suzie McNamara topped with 61.75 followed by Vicki Burke and Dawn Phipps 51.97, Isabel Orange and Fay Shaw 51.62 and Anne Berkeley and Joan Reilly 50.59.
Monday night's winners were Jennifer Calvert and Dawn Phipps 57.14 followed by Beryl Twardy and Anne Berkeley 55.95.
In third spot were Wendy Andrews and Robyn Sheridan 54.17 and next best were Greig Ball and Gary Somers 53.57. Scores were fairly even all round.
On Tuesday, August 7 we again played a Mitchell movement and north south winners were Margaret Hawken and Jan Freeman 58 per cent.
Greig Ball and Margaret Powter scored 51.5 for second and in third place were Keith Fiedler and Marlene Freeman 48.5.
For east west Isabel Orange and Jenny Freeman topped with 57 per cent.
Fay Shaw and Joan Reilly had 55.5 and Ingrid Stephenson and Jan Latter 48.5.
Val Worthington brought along Jill Peterson, another of her learners and they scored a creditable 46.5.
We hope Jill will become a regular at the club.
It's not too late to enter a team for our big day on August 19.
You don't have to be champion players so come along and enjoy a great day of bridge with our friends from neighbouring towns.

Sunday, August 5, 2018 the Parkes Services Social Golfers played a Stableford Event for Mick Smith's Trophy and Raffle supplied by Margaret Hogan.
Somewhat normal scores were the order of the day with Richard Wells taking the Goodies with 39 points.
Runner ups were Brian Hogan on 38 Points and Ray Cabban third on 37 Points on C/B. Ladies Nearest the Pins went to Lyn Davison taking the fourth and 11th.
Men's Nearest the Pins fourth Brian Hogan, sixth Ray Cabban and 11th Dale Stait.
Lucky Card Draw won by Robert Rea. Bunny Award won by Reg Davison.
Raffle Winner was Brian Hogan with Golf Balls going to Ray Cabban and Robert Rea.
Next Week we play a Stableford Event for Dale Stait's Trophy and Robert Hey to supply the Raffle.
The less said about the Footy this week the better but for one shining light.
Last Saturday one of our Club Members and Avid Dragon's Supporters in Phil (The Eggbeater) Smith ventured over the Blue Mountains to watch the game with the only good coming from the trip was at Half Time he actually won the BEST DANCER in the Stands.
Anyone who knows Phil would agree it would not be a Pretty Sight including the Eggbeater. Go the Dragons

Parkes SSAA Smallbore
Last weekend we saw seven shooters attend the Deep Lead shooting complex and shot at buffalo targets for a maximum of 500 points.
This match was shot under near perfect weather conditions with a westerly wind blowing.

Our next shoot is at 1pm Sunday, August 12 and will be ordinary targets at both ranges.
A big thanks to those who stayed back and helped get the front fence ready for a new gate to enable bigger machinery into the 50 meter side.
The Firearms amnesty is still on to either hand your unregistered firearms in or have them registered.
Either way is easy with no questions asked. It ends on September 30.
