Wait up – an outfit with the best defence, the best attack and an undefeated record, with a monster points differential of plus-270, can get better?
You bet, just ask Dwyer.
“Definitely,” the confident Parkes star fired.
“We haven’t had a full-strength side now for a few weeks, with India (Draper) being away, but we’ve got everyone back this weekend and now we’ve got the chance to work on our combinations, which is great.”
The Spacies’ girls head into Sunday’s round 12 clash against Narromine red hot favourites to maintain their unbeaten run throughout 2018.
The only blemish on Joe Spicer’s record this year is a 10-all draw with reigning premiers Dubbo CYMS, with 10 wins sitting alongside that result.
Everyone knows their positions well this year.
- Parkes' Sally Dwyer.
Dwyer said the Spacecats will strive to ensure their undefeated record is maintained throughout the final three rounds of the regular season, but knows that’s a task easier said than done with clashes against Westside and Forbes – two finals contenders – in the final two weeks of the season proper.
“We definitely didn’t think we’d be undefeated at the start of the season, but it’ll be great if we can keep it going into finals,” she said.
“Westside’s attack is really strong this year, and CYMS’ defence is outstanding, as always.
“Macquarie and Wellington are probably the darkhorses, I think. Wellington’s got a great game plan and I think if they keep plugging away they’ll go far and Macquarie’s a side that always seems to get under our skin.
“But I think, for us, everyone knows their positions well this year, Spice has done well there, and we’re focused on that and we’re training hard.”
Dwyer said the likes of Paige Hay – a late-season addition - and the Ward twins, Ash and Cassandra, have been outstanding for the Spacecats this season.
“And Daisy Burns, our hooker, has been great too this season for us. All of the girls are playing well,” Dwyer added.
Parkes hosts Narromine on Sunday, with the league tag girls kicking off the day from 11am.
First grade is scheduled to kick-off at 2.30pm.
