The multi award winning artist said she is looking forward to coming back to town.
“I haven’t been to Parkes in a long time,” she said.
“We used to play in Parkes with the Dead Ringer Band about 25 years ago.
“We probably only had three or four people come to the show but it was so much fun, I loved it, I’m excited about coming back.”
Kasey, with her father Bill Chambers as part of the band, is touring Australia after the release of her 12th studio album, Campfire.
“We are about half way through the tour,” she said.
“The album is inspired by the outback so I wanted to try and get to as many places around Australia as I could with this record.
“We’ve just been to Coober Pedy and Roxby Downs and Alice Springs and places like that which I haven’t been to for quite a few years.
“I was really happy to get back and play some of those places.”
Once the Australian tour is complete, Kasey and her band will head overseas.
“We always like to tour here first,” she said
“I spent a fair bit of time overseas last year actually, so I was keen to spend a bit more time here this year.”
The 42-year-old’s love of fashion and lack of height started an accidental cult following among her fans with a pre-show social media ritual.
Now with their own hashtag (#preshowdunnyshot), Kasey’s pre-show fashion photos are taken atop a backstage toilet and fans can’t get enough.
“It just started because I am so short and I always have to stand on something when I want to show off and tag the outfit I’m wearing on social media,” Kasey said.
“I love fashion, I love getting new clothes and I would always stand on a chair or something for the photo.
“One night I was backstage and there was no chair, no desk, no table, nothing - all there was was a dunny.
“And I thought, that’ll do, I’ll put that up, and the next time I went back to standing on a chair a lot of people were saying they liked the dunny shot better.
“I and I thought, you know what, it’s a bit more me, I’m not very classy, and there’s always a dunny backstage, and it just grew from there.
“I have my own dunny cult following, that’s true success right there,” she laughed.
The concert is being held at the Parkes Services Club on Friday, doors open at 7pm.
“Because we spent so much time in Parkes years ago, I’m really keen to get back,” Kasey said.
“We won’t just play songs from the new album, we’ll play old songs as well, all the way back to the Captain album.”
