The appointment allows INLink, a joint venture with BMD Constructions and Fulton Hogan, to begin preparing for the start of construction for Inland Rail later this year.
Inland Rail CEO Richard Wankmuller said INLink would be scoping out suppliers in the market with many opportunities for regional companies and local businesses.
“With early works on Inland Rail now well under way, residents and local businesses will increasingly see the flow on benefits, including jobs and new investment opportunities.”
“INLink will be putting together their environmental management plans and applying for their Environment Protection Licence to lay the foundations for major construction,” he said.
Mr Wankmuller said there will be more contracts awarded by ARTC over the coming months in regional NSW with communities set to share in the benefits.
“Construction materials have already started being delivered with materials arriving from all over Australia and NSW. 6534 tonnes of Whyalla steel rail has already been delivered and the first of 200,000 concrete sleepers have arrived in Parkes from Mittagong in the Southern Highlands.”
“We’re operating in and are part of these communities. ARTC has long held a Provisioning Office in Parkes to maintain the interstate rail network and we’re set to open our Inland Rail shopfront there soon,” Mr Wankmuller said.
Community information sessions will also be held over the coming months for land and business owners and residents to participate and share their input into Inland Rail.
